This \u0093scratch\u0094 built model was ordered in 1997 by Richard Kohler to be built by Master Modeler Peter J. Papa. Using actual type IXC-40 construction plans, historical photographs of the U-869 and sister boats, it took Papa over a year to construct this using a diverse variety of material. At five feet long, this model is accurate in every detail to the U-869 in both scale and equipment.
